Seeking an FC, to sail the Salish Sea

Twenty-five years ago, full of admiration for Lyle Hess designs, I drove up from Sausalito, CA, where I worked, to Port Townsend, WA, to see an FC 22 that was for sale. But I went home without her. I planned to be a full-time liveaboard and felt she was too small for that (I bought a Westsail 32 instead, and lived aboard for almost a decade). Still, I tucked the memory of that sweet FC, and of salty Port Townsend, in my heart all these years.

Now, recently retired and happily relocated in Port Townsend (and living shore-side), I am hoping to buy an FC to cruise the San Juan and Gulf Islands. Now, an FC would be my perfect boat -- a capable and comfortable little yacht that can go anywhere, and that I can easily singlehand. Now I just need to find her.

I'm ready to buy a well-kept FC that needs a new home, and bring her to this great sailing area.

Thanks for any and all leads,
Ricki

Have a look at Stout's link in "Boats for Sale". She's a very nice 1983 FC22 with a 2006 Yanmar, some really good equipment and recent upgrades. The boat is located in Florida and listed on Yachtworld.

Good Luck,
Patrick

There is a Falmouth cutter boat for sale in Poulsbo. It is not a Sam L Morse production, but may fit the bill for what you want. The price is very attractive and it's only an hour drive, or day sail from PT.

Hi,
I see by the database that you're in Port Townsend, too -- any chance we could meet and maybe I could see your boat? I haven't been inside a FC 22 in many years... I'd like to confirm my memories of this being the perfect little cruising yacht for sailing these waters.
Thanks, too, for the pointer to that craigslist ad -- I've called (and called again), and left voicemail, and hope to hear back from the owner soon. I did notice from the ad that this boat is quite a bit lighter, with 800lb less ballast than a true FC 22; wondering how that might affect its seaworthiness.
Thanks for your note!
Ricki
